Departing Vancouver Island for Now

We left Vancouver Island in typical fashion: the BC Ferries' Tsawwassen line was our target. But we saw the Washington State ferry; it would depart in 15 minutes rather 20. It would take us to Anacortes rather than south suburbs of Vancouver. So we said, "Let's go for it." We made it!

The crossing at dusk, through the San Juan Islands, was a treat to behold. A couple Orcas (killer whales) swam by the ferry as we gazed at snow-capped Mt. Baker to the east and a spectacular sunset to the west, and back to the east as a gigantic full moon rose.

Made it to Anacortes just in time to get the last room at the inn.
